Video Released of Rep. Scott Garrett Refusing To Admit Global Warming Exists

Haworth, NJ: The Shulman for Congress campaign launched a new website today titled www.ItsARealThreat.com. The website includes a petition calling on Rep. Scott Garrett to admit that global warming exists and to support Dennis Shulman’s commitment to addressing the threat of the global warming crisis.

The website also features a video filmed last week of Scott Garrett’s staffer attempting to cover a video camera when Garrett was asked why he does not believe in global warming.

With former New Jersey Gov. Dick Codey campaigning at his side last week, Dennis Shulman vowed that addressing climate change would be one of the cornerstones of his agenda in Congress. “The threat of global warming is real,” said Dennis Shulman. “Congressman Garrett needs to face reality and recognize this is a problem we all must work together and solve.”

Garrett voted to remove language from an appropriations bill acknowledging that greenhouse gases cause global warming and that global warming is a real threat. Garrett’s voting record on environmental issues is far out of step with his colleagues in the New Jersey delegation, both Democratic and Republican.

Dennis Shulman was recently profiled by The New Yorker and Time as momentum for his campaign continues to grow, and recent polling in the district validates the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s recent decision to upgrade NJ-5 as an “Emerging Race” and to buy advertising time in the district. Only 31% of likely voters in NJ-5 plan to re-elect Garrett and, by a 68-17% margin, the district seeks change from George Bush’s policies.

Dr. Dennis Shulman has gained international recognition for his 30 years of work as a psychologist, educator, and author. An ordained rabbi for five years and blind since childhood, he has lived in New Jersey’s Fifth District for more than 25 years with his wife, Dr. Pamela Tropper, an obstetrician. They have two adult daughters.
