Questions That Deserve an Answer, Part 6: The Shulman Campaign will press Scott Garrett for an answer to a critical question each day between now and the election

There is one thing that Senators McCain and Obama agreed on last night — Wall Street has been too greedy and the special interests too influential.

Which begs the question — How can Scott Garrett support John McCain? Not only has Garrett accepted campaign donations and personal loans from the financial giants that caused our current economic crisis — he also hired a paragon of the corrupt Washington revolving door as his chief of staff. Scott Garrett is among the nation’s strongest supporters for deregulation of the financial industry that puts profit above all else.

Today, the Shulman for Congress campaign asked Scott Garrett how he can support John McCain, given that McCain has decried the greed and special interests Garrett is so beholden to. In last night’s debate, McCain said that the problem in America is that “we don’t have trust and confidence in our institutions because of the corruption on Wall Street and the greed and excess and the cronyism in Washington, D.C.”

Dennis Shulman was recently profiled by the New Yorker and Time as momentum for his campaign continues to grow, and recent polling in the district validates the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s decision to upgrade NJ-5 as an “Emerging Race” and to buy advertising time in the district.  Only 31% of likely voters in NJ-5 plan to re-elect Garrett and, by a 68-17% margin, the district seeks change from George Bush’s policies.

Dr. Dennis Shulman has gained international recognition for his 30 years of work as a psychologist, educator, and author.  An ordained rabbi for five years and blind since childhood, he has lived in New Jersey’s Fifth District for more than 25 years with his wife, Dr. Pamela Tropper, an obstetrician. They have two adult daughters.
