Congressman’s crony gives Congressman’s campaign quotes as flailing and erratic Garrett seeks to fend off the emerging scandal over his “fake farm” tax break

Haworth, NJ - By releasing a response to attacks on his collusion with Garrett, the Wantage Town Administrator has proven his alliance with a partisan campaign. http://www.garrettforcongress.com/news_details.php?nID=278

Jeff Hauser, campaign manager for Dennis Shulman, responds with this statement:

“Scott Garrett could answer these charges — but he has arrogantly refused to do so. Garrett has obfuscated and perhaps outright lied about his tax record. The facts are clear, Scott Garrett is cheating on his taxes.”

* Why has Garrett refused to release his tax returns?
* Why has Garrett failed to list his farmland as an asset on his Federal Financial Disclosure Forms?
* Why won’t Scott Garrett offer proof that he is farming enough land to qualify for the tax break?
* Why can’t the Wantage Tax Assessor’s office offer ANY evidence that Garrett is actively farming enough land? The office told Catey Moore on 10/22 that since his property is an “established farm,” they merely take his word that he is in fact farming enough land to qualify. We don’t trust Garrett or his cronies.

“We don’t need to hear more silly harrumphing from the Garretts’ crony allies in Wantage– what the pubic demands is a full accounting from Scott Garrett. Holding a seat in Congress does not qualify Scott Garrett to cheat on his taxes or receive special treatment from local tax officials.”

“It’s time for Scott Garrett to clear the air and produce the documents that show he qualifies for his $40,000 tax break.”
