As a lifelong educator and student, I am firmly committed to ensuring our children receive a world-class education.
Public education is the cornerstone of our democracy. The Bush Administration’s No Child Left Behind must be fixed immediately— increasing federal funding and replacing teaching to the test with an educational culture that prepares our children for the challenges of the 21st century.
As an educator with daughters who attended public schools, I understand how important teachers are. We cannot expect to attract the most talented people into our schools without properly rewarding the professionals who play such a critical role in our society.
We must invest in fixing our nation’s crumbling school infrastructure and ensure teachers have the resources they need for their classrooms. Investing in education is the best way to stimulate our economy and prepare the next generation for leadership in the 21st century.
